Cancion de Cuna -- Leo Brouwer

Here is some "Juan Carlos" performing this piece (it is also sometimes called "Afro-Cuban Lullaby," and in some cases credited instead to some "Jack Marshall," for reasons unknown to me). I really like this piece for reasons similar to those for which I like the Grieg piece I last posted. Both of them represent to me endeavors by composers to take the music essential to their culture and build from it a work of art, something far more subtle and interesting than the original piece, but which retains that essence of their culture. This piece even also contains similar usage of minor 7th chords to the last one.

Two minor things that detract I think are firstly the arpeggiated theme at the very beginning, which I find rather immature, and also the eventual repetitive nature of the piece (which is pretty minimal though).
